About the role

The Woman's Hospital of Texas is seeking a Nurse Manager RN Surgery to lead and support the unit/department in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Key responsibilities include operationalizing evidence-based practices, ensuring compliance with standards of care, and fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.

Responsibilities

  • Operationalize evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes
  • Ensure adherence to standards of care
  • Support efforts to reduce variation in clinical practice and improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost
  • Ensure a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care
  • Support the achievement of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Ensure equipment maintenance is performed regularly and according to regulatory and/or accreditation standards
  • Manage admissions and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care
  • Facilitate effective interdisciplinary care coordination within and across departments
  • Ensure staff with appropriate clinical competencies are assigned to meet patient care needs
  • Manage nursing practice and unit operations
  • Maintain oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department
  • Monitor and evaluate the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures to ensure patient and family needs are assessed and met
  • Provide leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience
  • Instill accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions that differentiate the organization as a healthcare leader
  • Review various feedback mechanisms and help identify opportunities to improve customer/patient satisfaction
  • Leverage various feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and identify opportunities to improve patient satisfaction
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and other leaders to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service
  • Engage in service recovery when necessary
  • Lead in a way that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization
  • Implement evidence-based employee engagement practices
  • Identify development opportunities or training needs of individual employees and teams
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and training to improve performance
  • Build a competitively superior organization through attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining talent
  • Absorb responsibility for resolving and/or channeling employee grievances, disputes, or concerns according to appropriate procedures
  • Represent the organization positively within the community; participate in company-supported community/patient events and in-services

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (R.N.)
  • Registered Nurse license required
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of surgery experience in hospital setting, general surgery and pediatrics preferred
  • Circulate and scrub nursing experience
