About the role

Working hours are flexible and custom to each individual. Employees are always willing to help each other and work as a team. This is a full-time position, primarily Monday-Friday, 7 AM - 3 PM (Daylight) with some rare flexibility depending on departmental or facility needs.

Responsibilities

  • Integrates the department/services into the organization's primary functions.
  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intra-departmental services.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/service.
  • Determines the qualifications and competence of department/service staff who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided.
  • Maintains quality control programs, as appropriate.
  • Orients and provides in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department/service.
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department/service.
  • Participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department/service or the organization.
  • Utilizes the Five Pillars (People, Service Excellence, Clinical Excellence, Fiscal and Growth) to prioritize and facilitate departmental and organizational activities.
  • Participates in hiring, transfers, layoffs, recalls, promotions, evaluations, suspensions, discharges, grievance adjustments, and disciplinary actions.
  • Exercises supervisory authority by developing and implementing department and/or hospital policy.
  • Performs organizational strategic planning for all areas of responsibility by determining critical success factors and monitoring key performance indicators.
  • Directs the overall operations, efficiency, fiscal management, and strategic planning of the assigned departments in the service line.
  • Develops and monitors budgets, analyzes profit and loss statements, and determines root causes of budget variances.
  • Takes appropriate steps to continuously analyze and improve operations.
  • Directs strategic planning activities.

Requirements

  • Current nurse's license in the state of Pennsylvania or a current multistate license (MSL) from compact member states/territories.
  • Associate's degree is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Basic Trauma Nurse Course (BTNC) or equivalent training (ATCN, TCRN, TNCC) obtained within 1 year of hire is required.
