Nurse Manager OR/SPD - Surgery - Sharp Coronado Hospital - Variable Shift - Full Time

Hours: Variable shift start and end times. Weekend requirements as needed. On-call not required.

Hourly pay range: $74.770 – $96.480 – $118.190. The stated pay scale reflects the range Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual pay rate and pay grade will depend on factors such as years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and employer business practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative oversight and direction for the OR/SPD Units.
• Plan, direct, lead, and evaluate nursing care within these departments.
• Oversee daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training, and development of employees.
• Organize services and systems for a multidisciplinary approach throughout the continuum of care; assume responsibility for clinical and financial performance.
• Manage ongoing quality and performance improvement processes related to patient care.
• Facilitate department and committee meetings; participate on assigned committees/task forces.
• Promote and support a collaborative team approach in patient care.
• Act as a liaison for the unit(s), providing direction and assistance to physicians, families, and ancillary departments.
• Support and interpret hospital policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives.
• Lead initiatives to improve teamwork and build effective relationships.
• Participate in quality assurance programs, including LEAN and HRO.
• Monitor customer satisfaction scores and implement improvement plans.
• Track patient volumes, quality of care, and staff performance to identify areas for improvement.
• Maintain a departmental dashboard with progress on each pillar.
• Investigate and resolve patient, physician, and staff complaints and concerns.
• Hire, coach, counsel, train, and conduct timely annual performance evaluations.
• Develop and implement the departmental budget, ensuring costs remain at or below budget criteria; create action plans if budget is exceeded.
• Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships.
• Maintain required competencies for self and all employees within the department.
• Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• 3 years of leadership and management experience.
• 2 years of operating room experience.
• California Registered Nurse (RN) license – required.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of leadership and management experience.
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) – preferred.
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certification – preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge of NCQA, JCAHO, and other accreditation agency standards.
• Computer skills, including experience with email, word processing, spreadsheets, and customer service database programs.
