About the role
The successful candidate will lead the Labor and Delivery (L&D) Unit at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center (HCMC) in Columbia, MD. This position is open to Nurse Leaders from other specialties.
Responsibilities
- Lead a multidisciplinary team and ensure an exceptional birthing experience.
- Advocate for and allocate available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care.
- Facilitate an atmosphere of interactive management and develop collegial relationships among nursing personnel and others.
- Create a learning environment that is open and respectful and promotes the sharing of expertise to improve health outcomes.
- Enhance the practice environment to recruit and retain registered nurses with diverse backgrounds and appropriate education and experience.
- Contribute to the strategic planning process, day-to-day operations, standards of care, and attainment of goals of the organization.
- Collaborate with the nurse executive and others in organizational planning, innovation, and evaluation.
Requirements
- Master of Nursing (MSN) (Required).
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) may be considered but MSN is required.
- Must matriculate into a Master’s of Nursing (MSN) program.
- One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
- Minimum of 7 Years of Experience in clinical nursing (Required); registered nursing or nursing leadership experience in Labor and Delivery strongly preferred.
- Previous clinical management experience strongly preferred.
- Experience navigating rapidly changing situations, from evolving patient needs to technological advancements, by remaining flexible, continuously learning, embracing new challenges, and quickly recovering from setbacks.
- Current Maryland RN license required.
- Current CPR certification required.
Qualifications

Pay
Salary Range: Minimum 58.03/hour - Maximum 89.94/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
