Nurse Manager-Inpatient

Provides leadership and management to all nursing personnel and ancillary personnel within an assigned area or units in a clinical setting. Manages all clinical functions and operations of the assigned area or units. Ensures efficient and effective delivery of clinical patient care and services and ensures compliance with administrative, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manages and directs the operations and delivery of patient care within the budgetary, staffing, and regulatory guidelines, using evidence-based practice.
• Ensures that personnel demonstrate quality standards of customer satisfaction and patient care.
• Manages nursing and ancillary personnel within an assigned area or unit by coaching, educating, consulting, training, and evaluating their performance.
• Plans, schedules, and organizes the work of the assigned area or unit to ensure the proper distribution of assignments and efficient utilization of clinical personnel, space, and facilities.
• Assures compliance with productivity standards for assigned area/units.
• Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities to enhance the delivery of clinical care.
• Serves on at least one nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area; demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Five (5) years of RN experience, two (2) of those years in a leadership role.
• Prefer clinical experience in area to be supervised/managed.
• Valid RN license.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold.

• Occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, bloodborne pathogens, fumes, or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations.
• Occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours.
• Occasional traveling to offsite locations.
• Occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature.
• Occasional work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality.
• Occasional bending, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, crawling, crouching/stooping, driving, kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, twisting.
• Frequent walking.
