About the Role

As the Nurse Manager, you are the designated leader responsible for the provision of high-quality nursing care that is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. This role includes 24/7 accountability for the assigned unit(s), overseeing daily operations, fostering interprofessional collaboration, executing policies and procedures, managing finances, developing strategic projects, and enhancing both patient and staff experiences. You will assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate nursing practice and the nursing care delivery system with direct supervision of front-line staff.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, goals, and objectives as they relate to patient care, quality, and organizational initiatives.
  • Manages day-to-day operations and ensures all team members are knowledgeable in emergency/disaster response policies and procedures, including unit-specific response plans.
  • Monitors nursing standards of practice, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory agencies.
  • Develops, plans, evaluates, and consistently monitors budgetary and financial priorities, including payroll and scheduling, as they relate to the function and delivery of patient care for the service line.
  • Promotes cost-effective use of organizational resources, supporting financial objectives while managing acuity workload, volume, variable staffing plans, productivity, variance analysis, budget preparation, and equipment/supply management.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills by establishing and maintaining mutually supportive partnerships in care, displaying effective communication, coaching, and mentoring of team members.
  • Supervises, plans, evaluates, and monitors educational programs, evidence-based practice, and supports team members in collaboration with the Department of Education.
  • Supports the Magnet Program Director and Magnet program by ensuring a shared governance model, data collection, writing of exemplars, and coordination of documents as requested.
  • Prioritizes organizational goals and incorporates them into standard work, including leading and/or participating in committee work with clear performance improvement goals aligned with the mission, vision, and philosophy of nursing and the organization.
  • Professionally reviews complaints or opportunities for improvement with timely follow-up to the appropriate department, including service recovery efforts with patients, families, administration, or regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Three (3) years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Qualifications

Required: The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • National Certification in area of specialty (preferred when eligible).
  • Three (3) years' progressive leadership experience.

Pay

The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good-faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act. The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. The base compensation may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations.

Minimum annual rate: $156,062.40.

Some positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts, as well as performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate.
