Nurse Manager - Assisted Living

About the role

This position is responsible for providing direct nursing care to the residents on the assigned floors. The Nurse Manager supervises CRMA's, PSS, and CNA’s in the delivery of planned resident care. The Manager Nurse maintains a safe, therapeutic environment and directs/supervises assigned personnel delivering care on the unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and individualized nursing care to assigned residents based on established nursing protocol.
• Conduct ongoing systematic assessment of residents' physical, emotional, social, educational, and functional needs through observation, interview, and physical examination.
• Interpret assessment data to assist in developing a plan of care.
• Transcribe and process medical orders accurately and timely; integrate the medical care plan into nursing care.
• Administer medication per physician orders, document properly on EMAR, and observe for adverse reactions.
• Provide accurate and timely documentation consistent with the resident plan of care.
• Assemble resident charts and records; ensure all necessary forms are completed in a timely manner.
• Complete monthly summaries for assigned residents in a timely manner.
• Prepare incident/accident reports for residents as needed per policy; notify AL Director, physician, and family post-incident per policy and document accordingly.
• Assist residents in learning self-care activities.
• Supervise all resident assignments to nursing team members and ensure special instructions are communicated.
• Observe and supervise meals to ensure residents receive the proper diet and any required assistance.
• Monitor and organize material resources necessary for meeting the needs of the assigned unit.
• Recognize emergencies and life-threatening situations and initiate appropriate action.
• Ensure resident call lights are promptly answered and their needs addressed timely and appropriately.
• Assist with the orientation of new staff members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ years of nursing experience in a health care facility.
• LPN/LVN or RN license.
• Acceptable fluency in English to perform job duties and communicate with supervisors, coworkers, residents, and third parties.
• Proficient in clinical techniques such as emergency procedures, skin management, hydration therapy, and other nursing procedures.
• Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally upset residents.
• Excellent supervisory skills.
• Willingness to work harmoniously with all staff members.
• Ability/willingness to continue education credits necessary to maintain licensure and certification.
