About the role
Siskin Hospital for Rehabilitation is seeking a Nurse Liaison to join our team. The ideal candidate is a great communicator who loves working with patients and their families, possesses a "salesman" mentality, and can travel within Chattanooga and surrounding areas to represent the top rehab team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for pre-screening potential patients and preparing documentation to determine, in collaboration with the medical staff, the appropriateness of admission.
- Coordinating patient admissions when approved, including gathering all necessary information for the admission process.
- Initiating contact with referred patients and families and maintaining frequent communication with both the patient and the patient’s family.
- Providing opportunities for patient/family to make informed decisions about selecting Siskin Hospital for Rehabilitation.
- Providing medical information when requested by case managers or for purposes of precertification.
- Performing routine public relations activities to promote optimal communication between the Admissions Department and referral sources/guests.
- Traveling to referring facilities to assist with patient admissions and liaison work.
Requirements
- Experience in and/or knowledge of comprehensive rehabilitation.
- Experience in clinically completing nursing assessment functions.
- Experience in patient/family/staff education.
- Licensure/Certification: RN license in Tennessee and Georgia if applicable, Alabama licensure may be required for Liaisons functioning/covering in the outreach role. CRRN preferred.
- Valid Class D driver’s license.
- Basic computer skills.

Physical/Mental Requirements
- Strength: Position requires ability to frequently lift light objects and some heavy items.
- Manual Dexterity: Position requires performing simple manipulative skills such as copying, filing, collating, stapling, and moderately difficult manipulative skills like typing and data entry.
- Coordination: Position requires performing tasks that require hand-eye coordination such as typing and data entry.
- Mobility: Position requires being able to sit for prolonged periods, frequently move throughout the building, and travel independently to various referring facilities.
- Visual Discrimination: Position requires seeing objects closely as in reading patient admission charts, medical records, and prescreen forms.
- Hearing: Position requires hearing normal sounds with some degree of noise as in answering the telephone and discussing matters with patients, family members, and other hospital staff.
- Concentration: Position requires being able to constantly concentrate on fine detail with constant interruptions.
- Attention Span: Position requires being able to constantly attend to a task or function for more than 60 minutes at a time.
- Conceptualization: Position requires understanding and relating to theories behind several related concepts.
- Memory: Position requires remembering multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over long periods of time.
