Treatment and Care
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
Demonstrates and displays an understanding of psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
Adheres to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Tasks Performed
- Treats wounds as directed by the RN Preceptor.
- Performs EKGs as directed by the RN Preceptor.
- Removes peripheral intravenous devices under the RN Preceptor’s supervision.
- Carries out basic phlebotomy procedures under the RN Preceptor’s supervision.
- Performs activities of daily living such as hygiene, nutrition, and comfort activities under the RN Preceptor’s direct supervision and guidance.
- Maintains cleanliness and neatness of the patients' and unit's environment.
- Administers approved treatments and procedures under the RN Preceptor’s supervision and guidance.
- Observes, gathers, and reports pertinent patient information including intake and output, daily weights, vital signs, pulse oximetry, and blood glucose levels.
- Maintains a safe environment by following hospital and unit policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an RN diploma/degree program and in the final year (Required).
- High School Diploma or GED (Required).
- One year of patient care experience (Preferred).
- CPR/BLS Certification from AHA/ARC upon hire (Required).
