About the role

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS) facilitates the growth and development of nursing staff across the organization, supporting their progression from novice to expert.

Responsibilities

• Assessing learning needs based on regulatory standards, evidence-based practice, and staff input
• Supporting leadership development in nurses and self to enhance professional practice and patient care
• Representing nursing in interprofessional educational initiatives
• Developing, educating, and implementing quality improvement projects
• Creating and evaluating competency-based orientation programs
• Developing ongoing competencies in collaboration with education teams

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in nursing (enrolled in a master's program with completion by 6/1/2027)
• 3-5 years of active nursing experience; teaching or specialty experience preferred
• RN licensure in CT/RI and board certification within 2 years of hire

Skills

• Ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programs
• Ability to support staff development and quality initiatives
• Willingness to travel within the health system to facilitate training
