About the role
Spurwink is hiring Nurses for our soon-to-open Lewiston Crisis Center, which offers a warm, welcoming environment for individuals ages 14+ experiencing urgent behavioral health needs. As an alternative to hospitalization or law enforcement intervention, we provide stabilization, observation, assessment, and short-term intervention in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive environment—open 24/7, 365 days a year—promoting safety, dignity, and recovery.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care, including education on health, safety, wellness, self-management skills, and medication.
- Effectively engage, assess, monitor, educate, coordinate, and provide interventions for participants and families to improve quality of care and participant health outcomes.
- Conduct in-person sessions with participants in the crisis center.
- Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team by providing health information related to participant medical history and needs, medications, co-morbidities, immunizations, dietary needs, and the behavioral, social, psychological, and environmental determinants of health.
Qualifications
Must be one of the following:
- A registered nurse; or
- A psychiatric nurse licensed as a registered professional nurse by the state where services are provided and certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a psychiatric and mental health nurse; or
- A PMH-APRN who is licensed as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist by the state where services are provided, who has graduated from a child and adolescent or adult psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist program and is certified by the appropriate national certifying body; or
- An advanced practice nurse, as defined by the Maine State Board of Nursing.
