Health care facilities

• The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) collaborates with various agencies such as the CDPH Center for Health Care Quality (CHCQ) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
• CHCQ ensures compliance with state laws and regulations for health care facilities, including those accepting Medicare and Medi-Cal.
• CHCQ also oversees the certification of various healthcare professionals and the licensing of nursing home administrators.

Job Description and Duties

This position supports the CDPH’s mission and strategic plan by promoting quality of care and quality of life for residents, clients, and patients in long-term health care facilities.

• Assists providers with questions to support compliance with all laws and regulations.
• Responds to inquiries from licensed or certified healthcare providers to assist the facility in complying with all requirements for licensure and certification.
• Makes sure to monitor and analyze data on facility performance and quality of care.

Work Environment

The position is headquartered in the county nearest the selected candidate's residence. The counties include: Butte, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Orange, Riverside, Sonoma, Sacramento, San Joaquin, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Ventura, and Los Angeles.

Teleworking may be available, but travel is expected throughout the region assigned. The headquarters location will be determined based on the location of the most qualified candidate.

Telework Information

• The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH’s Telework Program.
• All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200.
• Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment.
• Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
• Travel may be required for this position.
• Reimbursement for travel takes into consideration an employee’s designated headquarters, as reflected in the duty statement, and is subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions.
• All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
