Nurse Clinician - Fellowship
About the role
The Nurse Clinician is responsible for the improvement and maintenance of scientifically based clinical nursing care in an area of specialized nursing practice or for a specific population. This role intervenes at the patient/family, nurse, and systems levels to provide expert family-centered clinical care and consultation within their area of expertise, promoting integrated healthcare that is safe, equitable, timely, effective, and efficient.
The Nurse Clinician provides direct and indirect care to patients and families, promotes professional development, disseminates and conducts research, and contributes to and leads clinical policy and procedure development and revision.
Responsibilities
- Model advanced assessment and interpretation, implement nursing care, and evaluate outcomes for patient populations.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise while supporting clinical nurses to integrate new evidence into practice; provide education or teaching to clinical teams, patients, and families.
- Focus on interprofessional team building and effective team functioning; serve as a role model.
- Review alternative approaches and implement planned change to meet needs considering cultural, social, family, and system diversity.
- Interpret and use research to evaluate practice; collaborate in research efforts.
- Innovate and drive change in the patient care system; make connections within system components.
- Influence negotiation of moral dilemmas, resource allocation, patient care direction, and access to care.
- Respond to subtle patient and family changes; engage with each unique patient compassionately.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
- Minimum 5 years of related clinical experience.
- Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure.
