Nurse Associate (RN), OBGYN, Full-Time, Days
About the Role
Join the OBGYN team at UChicago Medicine’s Hyde Park clinic as a Nurse Associate (RN). This position supports the Complex Gynecology & Surgery and Comprehensive Gynecology groups, contributing to a broad range of services from preventive gynecologic exams and prenatal care to minimally invasive surgery and high-risk pregnancy care. The role involves coordinating diagnostic and therapeutic regimens, maintaining cohesion between clinical research, physicians, and patients, and serving as a liaison between physicians, patients, and families.
Responsibilities
- Conducts, responds to, follows up on, and triages patient phone calls to the physician as appropriate.
- Assists physicians in clinic or procedure areas with patient examinations, diagnostic tests, and/or therapeutic procedures.
- Continuously monitors vital signs of patients under conscious sedation throughout procedures.
- Counsels patients on lifestyle modifications, medication regimens, side effects, and interactions using appropriate psychosocial communication.
- Communicates follow-up appointments, ancillary and/or pre-operative testing, and scheduling needs to clinic coordinators.
- Arranges patient admissions and coordinates ordering of tests/procedures with fellows, attendings, and nursing staff.
- Assists physicians in coordinating research programs by screening patients for acceptance into clinical research and outcome programs.
- Maintains office file notes, reviews charts, enters data for sectional demographic databases, and assists in summarization and analysis of data.
- Provides patient care in the clinic alongside the physician as necessary and assists with bedside procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Associate Degree Nurses must enroll in a BSN program within six to nine months of hire and complete the degree within 30 months; ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement for an accredited BSN program).
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of two years of experience working as an RN.
- Experience working in a community health setting.
Schedule
- Full-time (1.0 FTE).
- Shift: Days, 8:30 AM–6:30 PM, Monday–Friday (scheduled off day is Tuesday).
- Work Location: Onsite at the Hyde Park clinic.

Pay
The pay range for this position reflects the anticipated wage or salary for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is based on current market data, reviewed annually. Actual compensation will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations, including internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
