About the role

The Nurse Assistant performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient under the direction and supervision of the RN. They provide input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. The role responds to emergent situations according to established procedures and recognizes the need for continuing education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care activities such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and turning patients.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and report changes to the RN.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the RN.
  • Ensure patient hygiene and comfort, including changing linens and assisting with toileting.
  • Participate in patient education regarding their condition and treatment plan.
  • Respond to emergencies and follow established protocols.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • CNA preferred.
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program or equivalent.
  • May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license.
  • Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
  • At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and assist with patient transfers.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and patient care procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.

Pay

$18.50 - $20.50 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

36-hour shifts, 12-hour night shift, 7pm-7:30am.
