About the role
The Nursing Assistant assists in patient care throughout nursing areas, safely transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatches services, and documents services rendered. They also observe and report patient data/status to assigned RNs, respond to peaks in acuity and emergencies, and perform general receptionist duties.

Requirements
- Minimum Education: Preferred High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum Work Experience: Previous Nursing Assistant or equivalent experience preferred
- Required Classes/Skills: BLS - Basic Life Support, ACLS (AHA) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Required Additional Knowledge and Abilities: Basic medical terminology, basic computer skills, effective communication, accurate documentation, efficient and effective interaction with a wide variety of individuals
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Schedule: 3 days/week, 12-hour shifts, 7 PM - 7:30 AM with rotating weekends and holidays
Qualifications
- Understands patients' conditions to ensure their care and safety
- Maintains current knowledge/certification
- Maintains BLS certification
- Functions as a preceptor to new employees
- Displays the ability to accept and respond appropriately to feedback and recommendations for change
- Demonstrates professional working relationships with colleagues from all disciplines
- Complies with hospital policy and procedure
- Complies with applicable policies and procedures
- Safeguards the privacy and security of patient information
- Works within legal, regulatory, and ethical practice standards relevant to the position
- Complies with mandatory education requirements of the compliance, privacy, and security programs
- Bridges potential compliance issues to a manager, supervisor, director, or VP
- Utilizes software applications required by department and unit standards
- Accountable to understand how to operate in downtime
