Nurse Assistant - MG1 Step Down - Nights
About the Role
This position aims to improve quality by providing direct, basic patient care activities under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include care and cleaning of specific equipment, stocking supplies, and transporting patients, supplies, and equipment.
The unit is a 26-bed facility with private rooms, serving tele-monitored patients including trauma, bariatric, stroke, and critical care cases. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 3:1-4:1.
Responsibilities
- Performs direct and indirect patient care activities following RN instructions, physician orders, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Obtains supplies from designated supply rooms to ensure patient rooms are ready for admission and cleared upon discharge/transfer.
- Demonstrates ability to feed patients, knowledge of dysphasia precautions, and calculating and recording intake and output.
- Demonstrates competence in collecting specimens (urine routine, clean catch, foley, stools for c-diff, etc.).
- Applies heat and cold packs, ace wraps, slings, binders, protective devices, and orthopedic devices.
- Participates in hourly rounding programs to ensure patient safety, reduce harm, and address personal needs (turning, repositioning, toileting).
- Seeks assistance from the Nurse Manager for conflict resolution.
Requirements
- High School Graduate/Equivalent required.
- PA Nurse Aide Registry (CNA) OR completed a minimum of one semester of clinical rotations in an accredited nursing program required.
- 1 year of relevant experience and/or relevant certification (EMT) may substitute for required certification/clinical rotation.
- BLS certification required.
