About the role

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs high-quality nuclear medicine, PET/CT, and molecular imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and safety standards. They verify patient information, prepare radiopharmaceuticals, operate imaging equipment, and review images for quality and accuracy. Collaboration with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and staff is essential to support diagnostic and treatment processes for oncology patients.

The technologist educates patients, adheres to regulatory and safety standards, participates in quality improvement, and engages in ongoing education.

Responsibilities

• Perform nuclear medicine, PET/CT, and molecular imaging procedures following physician orders and established protocols.
• Verify patient information and prepare radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately.
• Operate and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring proper functionality through routine quality control.
• Review images for quality and accuracy, documenting procedures as required.
• Maintain radiation safety standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other staff to support diagnostic and treatment processes.
• Educate patients about procedures and ensure their comfort and safety.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional education.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program.
• Certification by NMTCB or ARRT in nuclear medicine.
• Current state licensure (where applicable).
• Experience with radiopharmaceuticals and healthcare information systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting and positioning patients.
