To assist the Director, Manager, Medical Director and physicist in directing all aspects of care provided by the Medical Imaging Department, including, but limited to; procedures, treatments, quality improvement, quality control, radiation, safety support and other related duties(on call). The technologist prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

• Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of Physician.
• Assist the physician in diagnostic procedures.
• Assist with transporting patients to and from their rooms when patient is an inpatient.
• Calibrates equipment.
• Ensures efficient filming of exams for quick interpretation.
• Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
• Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors.
• Meets 80% TAT goals.
• Monitors the equipment for mechanical safety.
• Must pass competency test annually.
• Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by Physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.
• Practices AITET principles daily.
• Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses, under direction of Physician.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Vocational School Graduate
• Associate degree (NMT) Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or (ARRT-R) Radiography, or (CNMT) Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist
• 2 years' experience Required Years of Experience
