Nuclear Medicine Technician-PRN

About the role

PRN Nuclear Medicine Technician needed for a busy nuclear stress test lab in Myrtle Beach to fill in on a PRN basis as needed.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with patients and doctors to support diagnostic and treatment activities while minimizing health risks for patients.
• Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals, utilizing a variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures.
• Administer diagnostic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of a physician.
• Follow radiation safety techniques when disposing of radioactive materials.
• Demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.

Requirements

• SCQRSA license required.
• Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNM).
• Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
• Minimum two years of experience in a clinic setting.

Knowledge

• Nuclear medicine and stress testing principles and standards.
• Use and maintenance of equipment appropriately.
• Safety, infection control policies, and regulations.
• Use of various electronic information systems.
• Spectrum Dual D-Spect with Open design (a plus).

Skills

• Following appropriate testing procedures.
• Proper equipment use, preventive maintenance, and repair.
• Appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures.
• Using various information systems.

Abilities

• Exercise independent judgment/decision-making and discretion in reporting/distributing results.
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, and staff.
• Organize effectively and work quickly with a high level of accuracy.
• Make basic troubleshooting decisions.

Environmental/Working Conditions

• Primarily a clinic setting.
• Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, fumes, hazardous materials, and noise.

Physical/Mental Demands

• Varied activities include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting, and stooping.
• Must be able to lift/carry/push 50 pounds.
• Require eye-hand coordination.
• Occasional stress from workload.
