About the role
The University of Washington Medical Center – Northwest– Radiology is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. This position reports to the department supervisor and receives general direction from the supervisor and assigned Nuclear Medicine Lead.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex clinical diagnostic examinations such as lymphoscintigraphy, treadmill cardiac perfusion, and pharmacologic stress cardiac perfusion, and provide expertise to support nuclear medicine clinical services.
- Tailors examinations to individual patient in collaboration with physician.
- Exercise advanced technical knowledge in a specific area of expertise such as clinical computer application or examination protocol development in the field of nuclear medicine, and provide work direction to others in area of expertise.
- Perform complex clinical diagnostic nuclear medicine examinations;
- Develop new computer applications in nuclear medicine PET;
- Develop guidelines for the use and control of radiopharmaceuticals; develop standards for calibration and dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals;
- Develop new nuclear medicine examinations; establish written protocols;
- Conduct specialized tests and studies in vitro and/or in vivo;
- Identify supply needs for new procedures; locate vendors for specialized supplies;
- Present in-services regarding an area of nuclear medicine;
- Design, implement and write procedures for nuclear medicine examinations; train nuclear medicine technologists in new procedures;
Requirements
Graduation from a program approved by the Joint Review Commission for Nuclear Medicine Technologists (JCRNMT), certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Qualifications
Legal Requirement: Certification as a Radiologic Technologist – Nuclear Medicine in the State of Washington.
