Nuclear Medicine Lead Technologist
About the role
Operates Imaging equipment to produce images of patient’s body for diagnostic purposes and supervises function of employees to adequately maintain flow of patients through Imaging Services Departments. The Nuclear Medicine Tech Lead is responsible for the daily operation of the Imaging Section. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating patient scheduling and daily work assignments and serves as a resource for Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
Responsibilities
- Suggests changes in procedures, policies, and quality improvement, as well as coordinates training and development of the Imaging Specialists, keeping them advised of technological changes.
- Identifies cost savings and assures that technical operations stay within the targeted budget.
- Performs technical nuclear medicine examinations within the section.
- Works independently, performing routine, complex and specialized nuclear medicine procedures and/or PET imaging.
- Coordinates and actively participates in the training of other Nuclear Medicine Tech Leads, fellows, residents, physicians and visiting health care professionals and serves as a clinical instructor for affiliated imaging training programs.
- Assists with interviews, provides input for annual performance appraisals, evaluates students, and may coordinate holiday and call coverage with the manager.
- Maintains and provides basic maintenance as required.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date(ARRT-R)
- Radiography Certificate, or Vocational School Graduate (CNMT)
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or (NMT)
- 2-3 Years of Full Time Nuclear Medical Clinical Experience
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited program
- Current license to practice as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the state of Ohio
- Experience in a clinical setting
- Ability to perform complex procedures independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Skills
- Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine procedures and protocols
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot imaging equipment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
