Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital is a 252-bed comprehensive medical and surgical acute-care facility located in Ocoee, Florida. Serving west Orange County for over 70 years, the hospital offers 24/7 emergency care, cardiovascular and stroke care, neurosciences, oncology, orthopedics, and minimally invasive robotic surgery. Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab functions, and radiopharmacy functions as required.
• Performs diagnostic CT imaging if dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), as required by guidelines or physician order.
• Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
• Performs all nuclear medicine dynamic, static, and functional procedures required by specific studies.
• Performs SPECT and SPECT CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order.
• Performs PET imaging on a rotational basis as outlined in written procedures or directed by interpreting physician.
• Performs all computer acquisition, processing, and documentation as required by procedure.
• Performs quality control on all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation as outlined by written procedure or manufacturer guidelines.
• Orders and administers radiopharmaceuticals, including positron emitters, as required.
• Maintains records as outlined by the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control.
• Performs all safety checks as outlined by the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control.
• Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for radiopharmaceutical and medication administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Administers contrast if dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), as required by guidelines or physician order.
• Prepares radiopharmaceutical doses and calculates exact patient dosages as required by law, maintaining records of such.
• Assists in the administration of therapeutic radioactive materials with an authorized user.
• Participates in the corporate ALARA Radiation Safety Program.
• Ensures safety of all customers.
• Participates in Process Improvement activities and may be required to work at any facility.
• Provides safe patient transport.
• Handles, disposes, and decontaminates radioactive materials while maintaining records under Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control regulations.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all procedural changes and equipment updates.
• Demonstrates professional judgment and decision-making skills; solicits supervisory input as appropriate.
• Ensures completeness and accuracy of patient studies.
• Provides patient and family education regarding studies being performed.
• Participates in ensuring compliance with applicable regulations including OSHA, The Joint Commission, FDA, NRC, EPA, and the Florida Department of Health.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Qualifications

• Must meet ONE of the following in totality:
  • Maintains current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Maintains current certification as an (ARRT) (N) American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Nuclear Medicine.
• Must meet ALL of the following:
  • Maintains current Florida State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
• Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment, procedures, and radiation safety.

Schedule

Monday - Friday with every other weekend.
