Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must pass EEI POSS testing

Preferred Experience/Education

  • Nuclear Navy Pipeline (6 years or more)
  • Nuclear Commercial Operator (>3 years)
  • Maritime Academy Engineer
  • Engineering Bachelor's Degree
  • Nuclear experience

Responsibilities

  • Complete qualification to operate equipment within assigned time frame
  • Operates all major and auxiliary plant equipment outside Control Room in areas for which qualification is completed
  • Monitors, reads and records instruments and equipment outside Control Room in areas for which qualification is completed
  • Notifies Control Room Operator of any problems
  • Communicates with the Control Room regarding plant status and conditions on an ongoing basis in areas where qualifications have been completed
  • Implements station safety tagging and clearance procedures to ensure safe working conditions for personnel and equipment
  • Maintains awareness and understanding of: plant procedures, government regulations, system operation and design changes, radiation hazards and handling of radioactive equipment in areas where qualifications have been completed
  • Maintains qualifications per PVNGS Training continuing training programs when qualifications are complete in one or more areas

Additional Requirements

  • Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. This is a condition of employment at PVNGS
  • Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage, including line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities
  • This position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site, due to the nature of work
  • Any PVGS employee may be called upon for random Fitness For Duty Testing (FFD) during scheduled working hours. Employees must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified

This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under U.S. Export Control Laws. Therefore, some positions may require applicants to be a U.S. person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), a Political Asylee, or a Refugee under the U.S. Export Control Laws. All applicants will be required to confirm their U.S. person or non-US person status. All openings at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Stations (PVNGS) will require applicants to be a U.S. person.
