Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers with developing, preparing, and implementing lesson plans and IEP goals
  • Reinforce learning through one-on-one and small group instruction for diverse learners
  • Oversee students during non-classroom times, including lunch, recess, and field trips
  • Assist with documentation of student progress and parent communication
  • Support classroom management, behavioral interventions, and positive reinforcement strategies
  • Participate in professional development, conferences, and meetings related to special education

Qualifications

Ideal Candidates Have:

  • Passion for working with children with diverse abilities and special needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in educational settings
  • Commitment to professional growth and development in child education
  • Experience or interest in trauma-informed care and behavioral support

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree in education, special education, child development or related field preferred
  • Paraprofessional certification a plus
  • 2-3 years of experience working with children in an educational setting, particularly with special needs
  • Knowledge of classroom management techniques and positive behavioral interventions
