NP/PA – Nocturnist Hospitalist – Duluth, MN

Practice Specifics

• Hospitalists provide coverage for Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center and Essentia Health Duluth, located on the same campus and connected via an indoor skywalk system.
• These sites provide secondary and tertiary care services to patients across a wide region in northern Wisconsin and north-central and eastern Minnesota.
• Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center is a 350-bed tertiary care hospital, Level I-certified Trauma Center, home to a consistently top-ranked cardiovascular program, and a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center.
• Typical team workload includes cross-coverage of approximately 230–270 patients per night, plus 15–20 admissions.
• Open ICU; ventilator management is not required.
• Procedures are not required.

Anticipated Schedule

• 1.0 FTE
• 12-hour shifts
• Typical schedule is 7 days on, 2 weeks off
• 119 shifts, or 17 weeks, per year
• Target nocturnist staffing model: 2 physicians and 1 APP

Licensure/Certification

• Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state.
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in appropriate state.
• Current certification in CPR.
• National certification in applicable area.
• Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
• Current licensure as a physician assistant in appropriate state.
• Current certification in CPR.
• National certification.
• Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
