Practice Specifics
- Hospitalists provide coverage for Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center and Essentia Health Duluth, located on the same campus and connected via an indoor skywalk system.
- These sites provide secondary and tertiary care services to patients across a wide region in northern Wisconsin and north-central and eastern Minnesota.
- Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center is a 350-bed tertiary care hospital, Level I-certified Trauma Center, home to a consistently top-ranked cardiovascular program, and a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center.
- Typical team workload includes cross-coverage of approximately 230–270 patients per night, plus 15–20 admissions.
- Open ICU; ventilator management is not required.
- Procedures are not required.
Anticipated Schedule
- 1.0 FTE
- 12-hour shifts
- Typical schedule is 7 days on, 2 weeks off
- 119 shifts, or 17 weeks, per year
- Target nocturnist staffing model: 2 physicians and 1 APP
Licensure/Certification
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in appropriate state.
- Current certification in CPR.
- National certification in applicable area.
- Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
- Current licensure as a physician assistant in appropriate state.
- Current certification in CPR.
- National certification.
- Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
