About the Role

The Clinical Program Manager ensures compliance with mandated clinical orientation, competency assessment, and interventions for designated nursing staff within the Medical Center. This role interfaces with MSMC Departments, Administrators, Nursing, Medical and Quality Leadership, and Clinical Staff to manage the educational and operational impact of clinical care delivery, staff performance, and outcome measures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees clinical operations using data and fact-based problem-solving techniques to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Ensures clinical initiatives align with institutional, departmental, and regulatory policies.
  • Recruits, orients, trains, coaches, counsels, mentors, disciplines, and evaluates staff in accordance with internal policies.
  • Communicates departmental values, strategies, and objectives regularly.
  • Assigns accountabilities, delegates tasks, and monitors job performance.
  • Develops, maintains, and reconciles the departmental budget with financial oversight.
  • Plans, develops, and maintains standard operating procedures, reviewing and recommending policy changes as needed.
  • Coordinates educational and performance improvement activities with Nursing, Medical, and Quality Leadership.
  • Develops action plans to support clinical performance, competency, and educational resources for nursing care delivery.
  • Establishes short- and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for high-performance nursing care.
  • Leads day-to-day educational program activities aligned with program objectives and clinical expertise.
  • Oversees the collection, compilation, and analysis of clinical program data to evaluate performance and competence.
  • Provides technical assistance, resource services, and consultation for orientation, competency assessment, and performance improvement.
  • Serves as a clinical role model and resource for nursing staff.
  • Prepares reports on new hire orientation, staff competency, performance evaluations, and outcome measures.
  • Provides timely status reports identifying patterns and trends requiring action.
  • Collaborates with healthcare teams to develop, implement, and review policies, procedures, and care standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of hospital, departmental, and regulatory standards, ensuring readiness for Joint Commission and other surveys.
  • Participates in budgetary activities, incorporating financial principles into program development and resource allocation.
  • Maintains professional knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.
  • Participates in the performance appraisal process for designated nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (required).
  • Master’s in Nursing or a health-related field (preferred).
  • New York State License with current registration as a registered professional nurse.
  • 5 years of directly related experience, with some supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certification in a specialty area (preferred).

Pay

The salary range for this role is $115,494 – $192,328 annually, depending on experience, education, and operational need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other forms of compensation.
