About the role
The Children's Guild is seeking a compassionate and skilled School Social Worker to join our Baltimore team. We believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and ready to learn, and we are committed to connecting students and families to the support they need.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and contribute to IEP and 504 planning
- Connect families to community resources, wraparound services, and crisis support
- Serve as a student advocate, ensuring every child's voice is heard and their needs are met
- Facilitate family meetings, home visits, and community outreach as needed
- Support attendance intervention efforts and chronic absenteeism reduction
- Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, administrators, and families to support student well-being
- Drive cultural transformation efforts by championing a trauma-informed, family-centered school culture
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program (required)
- Active licensure in Maryland (LCSW-C, LCSW, LMSW, or working toward full licensure) (required)
- 2–5 years of experience in a school-based, child welfare, or community-based setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, IDEA, and 504 regulations (required)
- Strong assessment, counseling, and case management skills (required)
- Familiarity with COMAR and Maryland child welfare regulations (required)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home and community visits (required)
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds (required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (required)
