About the role
Assist in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of middle or high school students during study hall activities; assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework, and projects in various subject areas.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and oversee practices and assignments in various subjects
- Confer with faculty concerning lesson plans and materials to meet student needs
- Assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework, and projects in various subject areas
- Assure student understanding of study hall rules and procedures
- Assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude, and general guidance
- Observe and control behavior of students in the study hall according to established policies and procedures
- Maintain various records and files related to students and assigned activities as required
- Take and record student attendance as directed
- Explain and assure student understanding of classroom assignments and homework instructions
- Assist students in studying and preparing for tests as needed
- Maintain classroom and other assigned areas in a safe, orderly, and clean manner
Qualifications
- Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities required to provide general study hall and instructional assistance
- Strong office computer and oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices, general instructional methods and techniques, and basic subjects taught in District schools including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language, and reading
