North Carolina National Guard Public Affairs Intern (Fall 2026)
About the role
The North Carolina National Guard Public Affairs Office seeks a part-time intern for the Fall 2026 semester. The internship will run from August 24, 2026, to October 23, 2026, with a maximum of 30 hours per week on weekdays from 8am to 5pm. The rate of pay is $15.00 per hour. The position is open to college students or recent graduates with a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related fields.
Responsibilities
- Develop and write stories highlighting NC NG soldiers and airmen
- Gather good news stories across the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) in both visual and written form
- Produce products to be used on NCNG social media sites
- Work closely with social media managers to improve data mining process
- Work with NCNG Public Affairs Office administrative assistance to improve daily task tracker
- Work with NCNG Visual Information Office on gathering and recording product to include photos and video for short- and long-range video production products
- Work with the media manager to improve media relations between NCNG and different NC media outlets
- Work with the Community Relations Officer to assist with two public relations events

Skills
Applicants must be currently enrolled in college or a recent college graduate. Recent graduates (with the last 6 months) will also be considered. A college transcript is required to determine eligibility. This internship is available for applicants currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or other related fields. Recent graduates (with the last 6 months) will also be considered. Pay
The rate of pay is $15.00 per hour.
Schedule
The work schedule is part-time (up to 30 hours per week) Monday-Thursday. The internship runs from August 24, 2026, to October 23, 2026.
