North Area Engineer - Engineer Principal

This position is located at district headquarters in Roseville and may have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in-office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

About the role

This position exists to provide project management, direction, and leadership from inception to completion of projects and studies, as well as lead, facilitate, and negotiate agreements within Ramsey and Anoka Counties. The position serves as the primary contact for public agencies, project partners, and the general public regarding project activities. This role establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the public, public officials, and internal & external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management, direction, and leadership for transportation projects and studies from inception to completion.
• Lead, facilitate, and negotiate agreements within Ramsey and Anoka Counties.
• Serve as the primary contact for public agencies, project partners, and the general public regarding project activities.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, internal and external stakeholders.
• Prioritize and schedule multiple projects to meet letting schedules, manage budgets, and staff.
• Ensure compliance with MnDOT standards and federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and codes related to transportation system planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation.

Requirements

• Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID).
• Three (3) years of post-registration engineering experience (Engineer Senior level or equivalent) demonstrating knowledge of principles and practices of Pre-design, Final Design, Planning, Traffic Engineering, State Aid, and Construction.
• Experience in project management sufficient to prioritize and schedule multiple projects, manage budgets, and staff.
• Knowledge of MnDOT standards and federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and codes as they relate to transportation system planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing, sufficient to give direction, facilitate meetings, make public presentations, answer project-specific and policy questions, and write letters and other documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of transportation engineering experience.
• Experience managing consultant contracts.
• Experience negotiating cost participation/funding.

• The successful candidate must pass a background check prior to employment, which may include a Sema4 Records Check, Criminal History Check, Employee Reference Check, and Education/License Verification.

Pay

$42.16 - $64.20 hourly; $88,030 - $134,049 annually.

Schedule

• Full-time, unlimited (regular) position.
• Day shift, Monday through Friday.
