Nonprofit Underwriting Specialist

About the role

We're partnering with a growing, well-backed insurance platform investing heavily in its specialty commercial lines business. This role focuses on nonprofit, human services, and education risks.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a book of commercial lines business (new business + renewals)
• Evaluate risk, price coverage, and make underwriting decisions
• Handle endorsements, negotiations, and coverage structuring
• Build and maintain strong agency/broker relationships
• Partner internally with underwriting support and cross-functional teams
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment and share technical knowledge

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience
• Experience handling complex or specialty accounts (not purely small business)
• Exposure to both new business production and renewals
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with brokers

Qualifications

Preferred background in:

• Nonprofit, human services, or education risks
• Underwriting experience in adjacent areas such as:
  • Public entity/municipalities
  • Management liability
  • Habitational or complex casualty
