Nonprofit Controller

About the role

Direct partnership with the CFO/CAO and leadership team on strategic financial decisions
Lead and develop a team of 4 while shaping the future of the finance function
High visibility across a multi-program, mission-driven organization with real community impact
Ownership of the full accounting cycle, audit process, and financial reporting
Opportunity to streamline processes and drive system improvements (including Sage Intacct)
Work in a stable, well-established nonprofit with ~$40M in revenue
Influence budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
Exposure to complex multi-fund accounting and restricted fund management

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, GL) and monthly/year-end close
  
• Lead financial reporting, variance analysis, and cash flow management
  
• Manage annual audit and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
  
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit standards (ASC 958), and regulatory filings
  
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members
  
• Drive process improvements and support system enhancements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  
• CPA required
  
• 5–10 years of accounting experience, including nonprofit accounting
  
• Experience managing staff and leading accounting operations
  
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting
  
• Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills

Pay

$120,000 - $130,000
