Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor - Fine and Performing Arts - Theatre
About the role
The Department of Fine & Performing Arts at Creighton University invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Theatre, starting in August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for lighting and/or scenic design for up to four productions per year.
- Teach a 2-2 undergraduate course load based on experience and departmental needs, including lighting design and upper-level courses.
- Engage in community engagement, service learning, and teaching theatre.
- Foster student learning, development, and decision-making in support of their goals, success, wellness, and needs.
Requirements
- M.F.A. in Theatre or closely related degree such as Scenic Design, Lighting Design, or Lighting Technology required.
- Two to four years of professional experience in scenic construction, structural engineering for the stage, and rigging.
- Advanced skills in theatrical drafting software (Vectorworks or AutoCAD).
- Prior experience teaching or demonstrated ability to instruct and safely manage undergraduate students in a technical environment.
- Proven ability to manage multi-venue calendars, student labor pools, and complex materials budgets.
- Excellent college level teaching ability.
