NON-REVENUE BODY AND PAINT SUPERVISOR

About the role

Supervises maintenance personnel in the painting and body repair of non-revenue vehicles to help ensure smooth day-to-day operations and safety.

Examples of Duties

• Plans, organizes, schedules, and assigns paint and body repair tasks for non-revenue vehicles to personnel
• Estimates labor and repair costs
• Develops and maintains computer and manual files for payroll, attendance, project budgets, and vehicle repairs
• Ensures compliance and promotes aspects of the Environmental Management System to employees and coworkers
• Implements and maintains safety programs
• Conducts meetings on safety, proper tool usage, equipment upgrade projects, and other related topics
• Investigates and reports accidents and injuries
• Follows up on ordered parts, equipment, and supplies
• Conducts first-level disciplinary and grievance hearings
• Conducts vehicle inspections to assess damage or malfunctions, identifies issues, schedules necessary repairs, and supports staff in resolving problems
• Reviews and approves finished bodywork and paint repairs
• Inspects equipment and tools to ensure they are in proper working condition
• Prepares various reports, develops presentations, and manages special development projects
• Supervises and trains subordinates
• Accounts for subordinate and personal compliance with all of Metro's safety rules, policies, and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associate's Degree in a related field or equivalent training from a recognized trade school.

Experience: Four years of relevant experience in body repair and painting of automobiles and other equipment, including two years of relevant experience at the lead capacity.

Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements:

• Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
• Valid California Class C Driver license
• Must be able to work on any one of three shifts and weekends
• May be exposed to weather, chemical, electrical, and physical hazards when performing duties

Essential Knowledge

• Theories and practices of body repair and painting of non-revenue vehicles, including collision shop workflow, automotive refinishing, surface preparation, color blending, and spray application techniques
• Tools, materials, methods, and practices used in the automotive body repair and the painting trade
• Automotive repairs, cost estimates, and frame straightening processes
• Safe and proper use of tools, equipment, and materials
• Accident investigation procedures and practices
• Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing body repair and painting of non-revenue vehicles
• Project planning and budgeting techniques
• Principles of supervision

• Planning, organizing, and monitoring the work of a vehicle body repair and painting work unit
