About the role

We are seeking a skilled Controller to join our non-profit organization in Houston. The Controller will oversee all financial activities, including financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the organization's financial operations
  • Develop and monitor the annual budget in collaboration with senior management
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Supervise accounting staff and provide training and guidance as needed
  • Support audits and other regulatory reviews
  • Participate in strategic financial planning and decision-making processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred
  • Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in the non-profit sector
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
