About the role

Under the general supervision of the Charge Nurse and in accordance with organizational policies and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, this position provides direct care to residents, assists with activities of daily living, and supports the highest level of resident function.

Responsibilities

• Performs or assists with resident care needs including lifting, turning, positioning, transporting, bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, grooming, and timely response to call lights
• Provides restorative care such as range of motion exercises, ambulation, and bowel and bladder training
• Maintains cleanliness of resident rooms through daily cleaning, deep cleaning, and discharge cleaning
• Engages residents in activities of interest and delivers restorative nursing programs to maintain ADLs
• Communicates professionally and effectively with residents, peers, families, managers, and visitors; follows written and verbal directions
• Reports changes in residents’ physical or mental conditions promptly
• Assists nurses with tasks including measuring and recording vitals, gathering weights and measures, making beds, cleaning closets, organizing living areas, assisting with new admissions, and orienting new staff
• Knows and helps residents exercise their rights; reports complaints and maintains confidentiality
• Documents resident information accurately, timely, and confidentially in the electronic medical record
• Adheres to safety, compliance, infection control, and universal precautions; reports equipment needs or repairs
• Performs food service functions: preparing residents for meals, serving food, assisting with eating, after-meal care, passing snacks and water/ice, recording food/fluid intake, and reporting changes in eating habits

• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, or currently enrolled in a program to achieve preferred education
• Two to four years of related experience preferred
• Good communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills; ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
• Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and the World Wide Web
