About the role

Medical Assistant for our Outpatient Oncology Infusion Clinic. Candidates may train at all three locations: Ann Arbor, Canton, Brighton.

Schedule

• Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (flexibility with start time)
• Ann Arbor: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Canton: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Brighton: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Infusion Clinics are closed on weekends and holidays

Overview of Infusion Clinic

The Infusion Clinic provides a variety of treatments to both Oncology and Non-Oncology patients, including:

• Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, IV hydration, blood products, injections, iron, phlebotomies
• Bone marrow biopsies and other infusion therapies for supportive care
• Support for Hematology-Oncology and Gynecology Oncology patients, including those on clinical research trials or receiving combined modality treatment with Radiation Therapy
• Support for specialties such as Rheumatology, Neurology, OB, Huron Gastro, Primary Care providers

The clinic is supported by Infusion Nurses, Medical Assistants, Infusion Schedulers, Nurse Coordinator, Education Coordinator, and Infusion Manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the nursing team and care to infusion patients
• Administer SubQ injections, access ports, and start IVs
• Obtain vital signs, height/weights, and order supplies
• Stock and clean bays, answer call lights, escort patients
• Perform delegated tasks as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an accredited school or at least 1 year of work experience as an MA or in a similar patient care role
• Consideration for medical-focused students able to meet scheduling needs
• BLS annual certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in an Oncology clinic
