About the role
Based in Michigan, Zeeland Lumber & Supply operates truss and wall panel component manufacturing plants along with full-service building material yards that distribute lumber and an expansive range of specialty products, such as windows, doors, roofing, cabinets, decking, and interior and exterior trim.
This is an entry-level driving position focused on delivering raw materials and smaller orders. The role is not a CDL driver position but may require some certification depending on State law.
Responsibilities
- Operate safely and participate in a positive work environment.
- Check orders for accuracy and organize and secure load.
- Obtain approval on all loads from supervisor for proper count and conditions of load.
- Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.
- Deliver and unload materials to customer’s satisfaction.
- Follow guidelines from supervisor and complete daily equipment inspection.
- Record all merchandise that is returned by truck.
- Complete necessary paperwork such as delivery tickets and credit slips.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist in unloading material returned for credit.
- Relay messages sent by customers while on job.
- Assist supervisor, other employees, and other work areas, as assigned.
- May be subject to DOT and FMCSA jurisdictions and restrictions.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
- Adhere to Company’s commitment to workplace safety and complete assigned trainings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of experience driving trucks required.
- Lumber dumping experience preferred.
- Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
- Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
- Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
- Maintain current operator’s license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
- Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g., Smartphone, GPS, and other necessary business applications).
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid and in-state Driver License required.

Based on experience, there may be opportunities to advance to Non CDL Driver II.
