About the role
As a US FOODS® PRONTO DRIVER you will be critical to the US FOODS® team and one of the important faces of our organization. You will deliver meats, produce, frozen goods, groceries, dry goods, equipment, and supplies to customer drop-off sites. Your efforts define US FOODS® success based on our pillars of cultural beliefs, work ethic, collaborative spirit, and service.
Responsibilities
- Lift 80+ lbs on a consistent basis.
- Load and unload the vehicle for multi-stop deliveries.
- Transport deliveries by driving assigned vehicles.
- Use a hand truck to deliver to the customer location including going up and down stairs with the product as necessary.
- Accurately record delivery information including operating a hand scanner and all company required documentation.
- Responsible for the proper documentation and disposition for any return product.
- Communicate delivery-customer issues to proper authority (e.g., Customer Service, Territory Manager, Transportation Supervisor).
- Deliver the product to each designated stop using the stop sequence provided for the day.
- Unload product safely and stage product in the space(s) designated by customer.
- Check the invoice for complete delivery. Process paperwork and damaged merchandise if any.
- Collect payments if necessary.
- Monitor refrigeration system on van consistently for safety; follow all safe food handling procedures.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections such as monitoring fluid levels, tires, windshield wash and replenishing fuel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license issued by the state of legal residence with proper endorsements if required.
- No more than 2 convictions in the past two-year period for traffic violations, no DUI convictions in the past 3 years, no driver’s license suspensions in the past 3 years.
- No commercial or professional driving experience is required.
- One year of multi-stop delivery experience is preferred or six months of local delivery experience and/or food service industry experience preferred.
- Hand cart delivery experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Able to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to safety regulations.
- Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Must pass pre-employment testing.
- Have knowledge of area and/or map reading abilities.
- Use safe lifting and loading techniques.
- Great interpersonal/customer service skills.
- Availability to work on weekends and holidays.
- High School Education or GED preferred.
Schedule
Tuesday through Saturday - 6 AM start time until finished, typically around 4 pm. Training schedule is Monday through Friday.
Pay
Pronto Delivery Drivers in Fort Mill, SC earn $27.36 an hour. The expected base rate for this role is between $25 and $30 per hour. This role may also receive incentive compensation as applicable and overtime as applicable.
