Join our community of food people as a Non CDL Driver I, delivering foodservice products with a high level of service to customers. This role involves driving a company vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of up to 14,900 lbs. Commercial or professional driving experience is preferred but not required. Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) medical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Load and unload the vehicle for multi-stop deliveries.
  • Transport deliveries by driving assigned vehicles.
  • Use a hand truck to move product from the delivery vehicle into customer locations, including navigating stairs as necessary.
  • Accurately record delivery information using a hand scanner and complete all required company documentation.
  • Handle proper documentation and disposition for any return product.
  • Communicate delivery or customer issues to the appropriate authority (e.g., Customer Service, Territory Manager, Transportation Supervisor).
  • Deliver product to designated stops following the provided stop sequence.
  • Safely unload and stage product in customer-designated spaces.
  • Verify invoice accuracy for complete delivery.
  • Process paperwork and handle damaged merchandise, if any.
  • Collect payments when necessary.
  • Monitor the refrigeration system on the delivery vehicle for safety and follow all safe food handling procedures.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including monitoring fluid levels, tires, windshield wash, and replenishing fuel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license issued by the state of legal residence with proper endorsements if required.
  • No more than two convictions in the past two years for traffic violations, with no more than one being a serious DOT-defined violation (e.g., leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, homicide/assault, eluding police, at-fault offense, refusing a breathalyzer test, committing a felony with a vehicle).
  • No DUI convictions in the past three years.
  • No driver’s license suspensions in the past three years (insurance and overweight tickets excluded).
  • No termination by a previous employer for failure to comply with safety regulations or accident involvement.
  • Must pass a DOT physical.
  • One year of multi-stop delivery experience preferred, or six months of local delivery experience and/or foodservice industry experience.
  • Hand cart delivery experience preferred.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Must pass pre-employment testing, including a background check.
  • Knowledge of the delivery area and/or map reading abilities.
  • Use safe lifting and loading techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime to service customers.

Physical Requirements

  • Perform physical activities including climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Work primarily outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Stand and walk frequently; drive and sit frequently.
  • Frequently lift and carry 25-50 lbs.; occasionally lift and carry 50-100 lbs.
  • Frequently push/pull (e.g., hand truck, gate, straps, metal ramp, truck door, dolly, boxes, truck gear shift).
  • Frequently climb/balance (e.g., in/out of truck/trailer, on/off ramps, stairs, and delivery platforms).
  • Occasionally stoop/squat and kneel/bend.
  • Frequently bend and reach above shoulder level.
  • Frequently grasp objects (e.g., hand truck, boxes, cartons) and continuously grasp the steering wheel.
  • Frequently manipulate objects (e.g., boxes, dolly, metal truck ramp, hand truck, paperwork, truck gate, straps) and continuously manipulate the truck gear shift.
  • Frequently twist.

Pay

The expected base rate for this role is between $22/hour and $24/hour. This role may also receive overtime compensation.
