About the role
A Professional Yard Driver (Yard Dog/Yard Hostler) is responsible for safely moving and backing semi trailers at a major distribution center. Applicants must have experience driving and backing a 53' semi trailers. The ideal candidate will have previous Yard Driving experience and be able to back into tight spots. A strong candidate should also be good with time management, have an eye for detail, have the ability to remain calm under pressure, be physically fit and have a safety mindset.
Responsibilities
- Safely maneuver 53' semi trailers: Backing and pulling trailers to/from dock doors and parking them onsite.
- Safely enter/exit switcher truck multiple times an hour.
- Place and remove wheel chocks and Salvo locks.
- Lift and open doors.
- No loading/unloading merchandise.
- Follow safety procedures.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
