About the Role

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking Full-time, Part-time, and Per Diem Nocturnist Psychiatrists for the Emergency Psychiatry services at Mount Sinai Hospital. You will provide direct care to patients experiencing mental health crises, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and consult to the main emergency department.

All sites are academic teaching sites with residents and medical students, offering opportunities for teaching and mentoring. Sites also have strong linkages with Health Home care coordination and innovative pilots to connect patients to community and crisis services supports. Opportunities to participate in these pilots are available.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct psychiatric care to patients in mental health crises within the emergency department.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including emergency department staff, residents, and medical students.
• Consult on psychiatric cases for the main emergency department.
• Participate in teaching and mentoring residents and medical students.
• Engage in innovative service delivery and clinical care pilots aimed at improving patient connections to community and crisis services.

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible Psychiatrist.
• Possess a New York State (NYS) license to practice medicine.
• At least one year of post-residency clinical experience in an acute care psychiatric setting preferred.
• Excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills.
• Highly collaborative, proactive approach with a commitment to high-quality, cost-effective healthcare.
• Strong work ethic and desire to participate in and grow a team-oriented, performance-driven department.

Qualifications

Qualifications for Assistant Professor or higher level are required. Previous psychiatric emergency department or psychosomatic medicine experience is a plus.

Pay

Compensation range from $225,000 to $245,000 for full-time employment, not including bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits. The salary range is provided to comply with New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialties, historical productivity, and hospital/community need.
