Job Overview

About the role

Fairview is seeking Pharmacy Technicians to join its float department. This opportunity allows you to work in diverse areas of Fairview Pharmacy Services, potentially leading to growth within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Receive prescriptions and gather necessary information according to department policy.
  • Prepare and dispense medications and supplies as assigned, including counting, pouring, and labeling prescriptions.
  • Verify insurance and resolve customer-related issues, including prior authorizations, vacation supplies, dose changes, and price checks.
  • Process new and refill prescriptions quickly and accurately, including entering refill authorization requests and handling complex prescriptions like compounds and injectables.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the computer system and utilize the reporting system as needed.
  • Handle cash register transactions efficiently and accurately.
  • Perform administrative duties as directed by the manager, such as scheduling, maintaining pharmacy software, and assisting with training.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving patient-specific medication issues under the guidance of the Pharmacist.
  • Provide training to new and current staff on various areas of expertise, including computer/software, insurance plans, and other processes.
  • Prepare drug therapy for patients in compliance with legal requirements, regulatory agencies, and Fairview Policy.
  • Deliver medications, supplies, and equipment to patient care areas and other clinical areas as required.
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked pharmacy daily, ensuring each product has a POS shelf label.
  • Participate in inventory control functions, record invoices, and manage stock levels.
  • Process recalls and returns when necessary.
  • Support the maintenance of pharmacy billing records.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Active technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy.
  • One to three years of retail and/or pharmacy experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the computer system and ability to use the reporting system.
  • Ability to handle cash register transactions and perform administrative duties.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Fairview Policy and ability to assist with identifying and resolving medication-related issues.
  • Ability to train new and current staff on various areas of expertise.
  • Experience in preparing drug therapy and maintaining a clean, well-stocked pharmacy.

Skills

  • Computer literacy and proficiency with pharmacy software.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications and paperwork.

Pay

The pay rate within the posted range may vary based on various factors, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.

Schedule

80 hours bi-weekly, day/evening shift, no weekend requirement.
