Responsibilities
- Design and develop a comprehensive welding curriculum that covers various welding techniques, safety procedures, metallurgy, and related topics.
- Deliver engaging and informative lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training to students, ensuring they understand concepts and can apply practical skills effectively.
- Instruct students on proper safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of welding equipment, and adherence to regulations and industry standards.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and meet safety standards. Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
- Assess student performance through practical demonstrations, written exams, and other evaluation methods. Provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve their skills and achieve learning objectives.
- Prepare students for certification exams by covering relevant exam topics, administering practice tests, and offering guidance on exam preparation strategies.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student success. Manage classroom dynamics, address student concerns, and enforce disciplinary policies when necessary.
- Create a learning environment for students inclusive of diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff from other departments and divisions to promote communication, coordinate programs, and support student success.
- Prepare clear learning outcomes for each course and inform students of learning outcomes in a course syllabus.
- Maintain classroom, laboratory, and departmental equipment and provide for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.
- Participate in college service and activities outside direct instruction, such as registration, curriculum development, strategic planning, and educational assessment.
- Provide academic advising to students and others as needed for completion and/or career readiness.
- Support student recruitment, placement, and retention.
- Keep professionally current by participating in professional development and other activities; maintain current credentials as required by program or accreditation.
- Maintain active liaison with high schools, business and industry, or external agencies, and organize the Occupational Advisory Committee.
- Complete instructional duties, reports, and paperwork assigned by administration in a timely manner.
- Attend faculty/staff meetings and in-service programs.
- Maintain and emphasize safe working conditions and practices.
- Comply with all Board policies and administrative regulations.
- Apply appropriate technology in teaching and the learning process.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records and reports as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
- Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida and meet all school and District policy requirements.
- Support school improvement initiatives by actively participating in school activities, services, and programs.
- Recognize overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate action based on school procedures and law.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Assist with program planning, scheduling, and coordination of educational activities as needed.
Requirements
- Certified or certifiable by the district as a Welding Instructor.
- 3 years of experience in the field.
- High School Diploma/GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- American Welding Society (AWS) certification (must obtain within 6 months of employment).
Skills
- Thorough understanding of safety protocols and best practices relevant to welding work.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards established by organizations such as OSHA.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software and equipment used in the welding field.

Schedule
468-day position, 3.75 hours per day.
