About the Role
Responsible for observing cardiac monitors to detect arrhythmias, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate patient telemetry data.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognizing arrhythmias and reporting changes promptly.
- Record telemetry strips, ensure proper documentation, and prepare units for patient use.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and logs, while ensuring cleanliness and safety standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by collaborating with healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Communicate effectively with staff, report emergencies, and support unit performance initiatives.
- Follow safety protocols, infection control policies, and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform clerical duties such as chart preparation and data retrieval as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current BLS or ARC-BLS certification; additional certifications preferred.
- Previous experience as a monitor technician or participation in an EKG monitoring course preferred.
Skills
- Strong communication and multi-tasking abilities.
- Attention to detail and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to work under stress and collaborate effectively.
- Proficiency in utilizing computer systems.
