About the role

An Equipment Operator III is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of highly complex automated assembly machines. This individual will ensure the continued operation of assembly machines through interpretation of and appropriate response to machine faults and through frequent alignment of stations and fixtures. The operator performs highly complex, repetitive tasks associated with machine operation and is expected to maintain a high level of equipment attentiveness. The operator is also responsible for ensuring that medical devices are assembled with the highest quality possible.

Responsibilities

  • All essential duties and responsibilities of Machine Operator II, plus the following:
  • Able to learn highly complex operations quickly and easily
  • Product quality is highly dependent on operator capability
  • Capable of performing major machine adjustments, changeovers, and setups without maintenance intervention (e.g., feeder bowl installation, fixture changes)
  • Makes minor mechanical repairs as needed on equipment (e.g., changing continuity test head on CAM, changing pins on CLC)
  • Perform or assist preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Possess superior critical thinking skills; able to investigate and analyze data to resolve problems
  • Demonstrate flexibility in operating multiple highly complex machines, which involve:
    • Solvent bonding and shot weight measurements
    • More than 10 stations and multiple components
    • High levels of operator attention
    • Precise station and fixture alignments
    • Changeover of bowls or fixtures

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of experience required
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Travel typically requires less than 5% of the time

Skills

  • Basic Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word) and computer experience preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems
  • Knowledge of machine maintenance or repair

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Use solvents, glue, or solder
  • Able to perform visual inspections with and without magnification tools
  • Regularly required to talk or hear
  • Operates in a clean room environment
  • May be required to sit or stand for the duration of the shift
  • Able to repetitively move and lift objects of up to 20 lbs
