Night Operations Assistant Store Manager in Training (NOASM-IT) will gain hands-on experience in the key responsibilities and functions of a Night Operations Assistant Store Manager at The Home Depot. The program includes a comprehensive training curriculum with mentorship and leadership development, focusing on overnight freight operations and Manager on Duty duties.

About the role

During the up-to-6-week training period, you will learn to execute key responsibilities of a Night Operations Assistant Store Manager, collaborate with Night Replenishment Managers (NRMs) to manage unload, pack out, and pack down, and develop strategies to boost sales and profitability. You will work with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Managers (ASMs), and field teams to create actionable game plans for departmental success and ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Experience (10%) – Supervise associates in selling efforts, lead GET culture, and set the example. Drive customer service and associate engagement; resolve customer concerns effectively.
  • Operations Management (15%) – Perform Opening, Closing MOD, and other whole-store focus responsibilities. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, enforce compliance, and maintain command of store standard operating procedures (SOPs), particularly safety and shrink mitigation.
  • Safety (15%) – Ensure self and associates follow all safety and hazmat procedures and Safety Matters guidelines.
  • Sales and Productivity (10%) – Plan merchandise placement, signing, and stock integrity through inventory management. Learn to operate store equipment and systems and manage daily financial operations.
  • Training and Preparation (50%) – Participate in a structured training program covering retail store management, including operations, customer service, sales, profitability, and company policies. Learn tactics for staffing, scheduling, resolving stock deficiencies, supervising selling behaviors, and supporting service needs for installed sales and product sales. Demonstrate performance management processes, including associate reviews and disciplinary actions. Complete all assigned training modules and assessments.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • 3 years of work experience.
  • 3 years of leadership experience.
  • High school diploma or GED (bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred).
  • Requires intermittent periods of continuous physical exertion, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, and lifting heavy or awkward materials.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.
