Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and special clinical laboratory tests on patient specimens.
  • Correlates and interprets data based on knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments.
  • Investigates problems, performs corrective and preventative maintenance of equipment, prepares reagents, instructs students and new employees, and performs data entry and interpretation of test results.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, nursing staff, co-workers and other organizational staff.
  • Attends departmental, organizational and continuing education meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn
  • Excel in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to exercise judgment in applying practices, procedures, and techniques to resolve clearly defined work-related issues.
  • Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (MT) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners required.
  • OR
  • Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners required.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of the operation and principles of departmental instrumentation.
  • Accurately interprets and reports laboratory test results.
  • Observes and follows established departmental environment of care and safety protocols and practices.

Skills

  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and report laboratory test results accurately.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Pay

Negotiable based on experience.

Schedule

Flexible schedule to accommodate shifts including nights.
