About the role
The Night Manager oversees all hotel operations during the overnight shift, ensuring exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, and security in compliance with the company’s elevated expectations and Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) standards.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for guests during nighttime hours, ensuring a seamless and memorable guest experience.
- Handle guest requests, complaints, and emergencies with professionalism and discretion.
- Conduct late check-ins, early check-outs, and VIP arrivals, ensuring all guest preferences are met.
- Monitor front office and public areas to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and adherence to hotel standards.
- Oversee night shift operations, including front office, housekeeping, security, and room service.
- Supervise and support night staff, providing guidance, training, and motivation as needed.
- Ensure all departments operate efficiently and according to hotel policies and procedures.
- Act as the Manager on Duty (MOD), making key operational decisions in the absence of senior management.
- Monitor hotel security systems and conduct routine property inspections.
- Respond to and manage emergency situations, including medical incidents, fire alarms, and guest disturbances.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and hotel policies.
- Work closely with security personnel to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.
- Perform nightly financial audits, reconcile daily transactions, and prepare reports for management.
- Ensure accurate end-of-day processing, including billing and revenue reconciliation.
- Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure compliance with financial policies.
- Assist in forecasting and occupancy management for the following day’s operations.
- Maintain compliance with all hotel policies, confidentiality, safety regulations, and luxury service protocols.
- Foster a positive, service-oriented culture that aligns with the hotel’s vision of ultra-luxury hospitality.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in a similar role within luxury hospitality.
- College degree in Hospitality Management preferred or equivalent experience.
- Fluent in English; other languages considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel management systems (PMS, CRM, POS, Opera), and a deep understanding of guest service operations.
- Able to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer.
- Must be able to reach, bend, balance, and transport objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
